Following on from our post about the brilliant products you can try out to help ease your mum tum worries, here’s comes the exercise bit!
Exercise at home
There are loads of exercise programmes that you can try out from the comfort of your living room. Make sure that whatever you choose is suitable for your lifestyle – there’s no point committing to something that you’re going to give up after the first session. Set yourself a realistic goal and work yourself up slowly, especially if you are new to a particular exercise.
We’ve got plenty of advice for you on the best waist shaping exercises you can do, without needing any expensive equipment, plus you can fit them around your daily life (crunches in the bathroom anyone)
If you need a celeb guide, our favourites are Davina Toned in 10 or The Body Coach has loads of YouTube videos featuring High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT – the ultimate quick fix exercise plan). Or you can see how celeb mums keep themselves super toned with our post.
You could also try out Keep Fit Eat Fit, it’s a subscription service which emails you recipe and exercise videos each week, so there’s no escape! We’ve got some trial videos for you to check out – core strengthening, using a Swiss ball, suspension training and using a foam roller.
If you don’t think you have the willpower to exercise by yourself, get out and find yourself a workout buddy. It doesn’t need to involve the gym or anything too crazy if you don’t want to. Even walking along the school run with someone is good exercise, and you could challenge yourselves to beat your time each week.
There are also lots of running clubs popping up all over the country, many of whom will offer beginners or learn to run programmes.
Or you could try out a fun exercise class together, you’ll be motivated to put in more effort if you’ve got someone with you. Zumba and dance based classes are ideal for beginners.
Finding a local buggy fit class if you’ve got a newborn can be a great way to meet new people and you’ll be so focussed on your baby that you won’t notice how much of a workout you’re getting!
